Recurring tasks let you define a task template and a schedule, so that deliveries or pickups that repeat on fixed days or dates are generated automatically — without needing to create each one manually.
What is a recurrence?
A recurrence combines two things:
- A task template — the details of the task to be repeated (delivery or pickup).
- A schedule — the selected weekdays, a time window, or timeslot
Once set up, the system automatically creates the individual tasks ahead of time, based on the schedule you define.
How automatic generation works
- Tasks are generated in advance according to a generation lead time that you configure — this determines how many days before the delivery date the task should be created.
- Each generated task then follows the normal announcement process, just like a manually created task.
- If an occurrence falls within a sender's blocked dates, that occurrence is automatically skipped and no task is generated for it.
- If a generated task doesn't have an available or suitable timeslot, it is still created — but flagged with a validation issue, so it stays visible for review instead of being silently dropped.
Enabling recurring tasks
Recurring tasks must be requested from your CSM before they can be used. Once enabled, an admin can turn the feature on at Platform → General → Enable Recurring Tasks
Configuration settings
Once enabled, two settings control how tasks are generated:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Generation lead time (days) | How many days in advance of the delivery date the task should be created. |
| Generation time | The time of day at which the task should be created. |
Creating a recurrence
Recurrences are currently created through the web UI only — creating them via the API is not yet supported.
- Start the New Task flow and switch to recurrent mode.
- Define the task template and schedule (weekdays, time window/timeslot, start and end dates).
Creating a new recurring task
When creating a new tasks under task type, choose: Recurring
Note that for tasks belonging to planning flows, the New Task screen won't show a timeslot tab. Instead, you'll find a Recurring Task section under the Delivery tab.
Supported task types
- ✅ Delivery tasks
- ✅ Pickup tasks
- ❌ Linked tasks (a pickup + delivery pair) are not currently supported for recurrences.
Managing recurrences
Note: Recurring task rules cannot currently be edited. To change a rule, delete the existing recurrence and create a new one.
Logs
Every recurrence keeps a log trail of its activity. These entries can be found in the platform logs under the Recurrence category.
Current limitations
- Recurrences can currently only be created via the web UI — not via the API.
- Existing recurrence rules cannot be modified; they must be deleted and new ones created.
- Only single delivery or pickup tasks are supported — linked pickup + delivery tasks are not supported yet.
